About EPMCR: - EPMCR (http://www.epmcr.co.in) is an IIT Madras incubated firm formed with a vision to develop quality, on time and with-in budget Indian infrastructure by applying scientific Project Management and Engineering practices. Founded by the alumni of IIT Madras, and mentored by faculty Civil Engineering department, IIT Madras; EPMCR supports it clients at various stages from concept planning to successful commissioning of construction projects. EPMCR offers single point solution for planning, design and construction of all type of Building Infrastructure, Transportation Infrastructure and Water Infrastructure

About Internship: - The candidate will get exposed to all the key aspects of a construction project right from structural design to project management. The specific projects that interns would get to work on include: -

  1. Structural design of G+14 Boy’s Hostel Block for IIITDM
  2. Structural design of G+6 Lecture Hall Block for IIITDM
  3. Plumbing Design for IIT Madras Hostel Buildings ( 2 G+6 storeyed buildings and 1 G+7 Storeyed building)
  4. Construction Management for Construction of High end Residential Apartments ( 54 nos.) at Mahindra City
  5. Construction Management for Construction of Bridge with regulator across Malatar River
  6. Project Management for Development of Integrated Township at Mogappair. ( Expected by June’12)

# of internships available: – 2-4

Who can apply: - The students must have completed 3 years (6 semesters) of their Civil Engineering degree at the time of joining. Students should have completed their courses on Structural analysis, RC structural design, CAD drafting to work in field of Structural Design ( Preferred ). In addition students should also have completed their course in Construction Management, and Estimation & Costing to work in the field of Construction Management. ( Preferred )

Location: - EPMCR office, IIT-M Research Park, Chennai (India)

Duration: - flexible as per academic schedule

Start date: - ASAP

Stipend: - This is an unpaid internship.

Internship specific question: – Along with your application, please also upload a document (1 page, .pdf, .doc, .rtf, <1MB) answering following question: – A brief write-up why you chose civil engineering, your interested field in civil engineering and your thoughts on current construction practices in your town / locality and ways to improve it
