All the Economics / Finance / Management / Law / IIT graduates / CA students – how about spending the summer where the buck for the entire country stops? An internship opportunity with Ministry of Finance – yup, you heard it right! :) Wouldn’t it feel great if a few years down the line you could hold you head in pride and claim to have played a role in bringing tax reforms in the country? This is as real as it gets for all those who want to change things around!

About Internship: – Department of Revenue, under Ministry of Finance, has mandate to carry out tax reforms in the country. The Department is actively pursuing the work related to the introduction of Goods and Services Tax in the country. The proposed Goods and Services tax is expected to subsume large number of Central taxes like Central Excise Duty, Service Tax, Counter Veiling duty etc. and the State Taxes and levies like VAT/ Sales tax, Entry tax and Entertainment tax etc.

In view of preparatory work associated with the introduction of Goods and Services Tax, a need for internship programme in the Department has been felt so that the officers of the Department particularly in the State Taxes Division are able to interact with young scholars with brilliant academic backgrounds from the reputed academic institutions. The programme is expected to enable the Department to critically analyze various aspects of the Goods and Services tax on the basis of refreshing ideas from the field of academics and simultaneously expected to help the interns to familiarize themselves with the process of development of this important tax reform at the national level.

    Hey,

I was surfing through for government internships and saw the similar link prior to yours. I mailed in to ask if the internships are still applicable for this year considering the date on the PDF file states last year. I would appreciate if you can get back to me on this as soon as possible at your convenience. Cheers.

Yup, the PDF mentions the dates when these programs were institutionalized and since then these programs run either on a rolling basis or on yearly basis and last we checked with the Ministry of Finance before posting, it was still on. Why not apply and see the response – do let me know if you need any more assistance!

Wish you all the best. If you like what Internshala is doing, why not like us on facebook and stay tuned into more such opportunities?

how can we apply for it i.e online or offline because in pdf it is written that “willing and eligible candidates may send their applications by email ” but in application form it is asked for authentication of candidate by university.

My sense is that you can send a scanned copy of the authentication. But best would be to verify it with the emai id / contact numbers given.

      Hope this helps.

      Thanks

      Hi Apporva,

Its true that we post high quality internships but most of these are open for all the students; surf around a little more and you would find plenty of opportunities :) and CEG is no less of a premier college itself! 1st year is usually difficult because the core coursework knowledge is limited but there are a few available that are open to students across the streams.

Hope this helps. Wish you all the best and a Happy New Year!

      Many thanks

it says that the internship is only available to law students from the top 4 or 5 NLUs. i dont study law from any of those colleges but am still very interested in this internship. would they make an exception or is it rigid?(in which case, its not fair! :/)
