Summer Internship with RBI – Apurv Dhingra from SIBM Bangalore

Daily Winner for: –  12th August 2011

Name of the intern: –  Apurv Dhingra

Institute: –  SIBM Bangalore

Organization interned with: –  Reserve Bank of India

I got shortlisted for an intern interview at ….wait for it … “RESERVE BANK OF INDIA”(RBI). I was so excited at the shortlist itself. I went for the interview and had 5 top GMs including Regional Director staring like vultures at me. There was one sweet lady (as always) there. For the next 20 minutes I was ripped apart on almost all areas of Finance. Fortunately I had read a lot on the “hot” topics of Basel II and Risk Management on blogs and newspapers and it was one of the project topics. I answered all the questions confidently and finally the sweet lady asks an easy one! I was certain that I was through and when the results came I had topped the interviews.

I had the most amazing 3 months of my life. I did my intern in.. wait for it again.. “Department of Banking Supervision” of RBI Bangalore. I got to interact with top bankers and senior people as well. The sumptuous lunch for – you won’t believe it – Rs 5 is the most value for money ever possible on planet EARTH!!!

Also I got a lot of valuable guidance from my guides. I learnt lessons in documentation as my report was ripped apart 5 times. Also my final presentation was attended by RD himself. I got the chance to meet Mr Subbarao himself during one of his visits (He took out 10 min exclusively for the trainees).

And yes it changed my life. I did my project in Basel II itself which later helped me get an Intern and further my first job in my current organization ING VYYSA BANK.

Was this interesting? If yes, please like the post on facebook (below) and help Apurv become winner of the week and win the prize (Rs. 1,000/-) that he truly deserves!
