I got selected for internship in my 3rd year of B-tech course in Bajaj Auto through campus placement. Selection was done on the basis of 2 steps – first was based on resume and other was a telephonic interview. I was the only one to be selected from my institute. It was of 45 days. The day I reached the venue, I was overwhelmed by the way I was welcomed by the HR manager. I was excited to have an industrial exposure and BAL (Bajaj Auto Limited) didn’t disappoint me. There were in total 9 interns with me. We were provided with free accommodation, morning breakfast and lunch. We had to pay for dinner in our hostel. There was no stipend. Mentors were allotted to us while working on various projects. I was given the job of rectification of leakage problem in petrol tanks. The best thing was that I was able to apply my theoretical knowledge and experiment on its practical applicability. The working staffs and mentors were very helpful.
A problem that I faced was of dialect. Since I am from north India and maximum employees were from Maharashtra, Marathi was common language but after 4-5 days I was well mixed. I made few lifelong friends there and my tuning with the workers was so well that even today they call me to know about my whereabouts. The time started flying fast and I enjoyed every moment of working on my project, giving presentations. The sense of professionalism was exceptional. Soon those 45 days were over and I still remember the last day when I was roaming around every section of plant capturing every sight into my eyes and camera, clicking selfies with workers and friends, exchanging contacts. Bajaj provided me with a great opportunity of working on a project in great work environment and guidance of everyone helped me a lot in achieving my internship goals.
