Internshala is pleased to announce the winner of Internshala Career Scholarship for Girls 2016. Congratulations Rekha V.!
Selected amongst 2400 applications, Rekha V. is a second-year student of College of Nursing, St Martha’s Hospital. After losing her parents when she was a mere toddler, Rekha grew up in Good Shephard Convent, an orphanage in Bangalore and has overcome substantial odds (no financial support, no family to rely on etc.) in her life.
She worked at GMR infrastructure as an office girl to fund her pre-university course in the St. Joseph’s Evening college. After completing her PUC course, she enrolled for GNM Nursing course where she has secured the third position in her batch in first-year.
Rekha plans to use this scholarship amount to pay her college fees for the upcoming semester. She has managed to continue her education with the support of a couple of philanthropists, and now, she aspires to become financially independent after getting employed once she completes her degree.
Internshala feels honored to have chosen her as the winner of Internshala Career Scholarship for Girls 2016. Keep it up Rekha – we sincerely hope that this scholarship amount paves the way for a successful career and inspires many more girls and women throughout the country to pursue their own dreams even more relentlessly.
Internshala Career Scholarship for Girls was instituted on 29th December 2012 due to the sad coincidence of the Delhi rape victim’s passing away on the same day as that of Internshala’s second anniversary. We have aimed to advance one girl’s career every year through an award of Rs. 25,000.
