Internshala Career Scholarship for Girls 2015 – Results
Internshala is happy to announce the results of Internshala Career Scholarship for Girls 2015. Congratulations Shobhalakshmi C.S.!
Selected from among 1800 applicants, Shobhalakshmi is a final year MBBS student at Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Science, Karnataka. Hailing from Mysore district of Karnataka, she has overcome substantial odds (financial crunch, inadequate academic resources, etc.) to maintain an excellent performance throughout her academic career, scoring 93% in both 10th and 12th boards. She also scored well in her entrance exams to secure a seat in the government medical college. Her MBBS career has already been adorned by two gold medals, one in Biochemistry (won in 1st year of MBBS) and other in Microbiology (won in 2nd year of MBBS). Shobhalakshmi nurtures the dream of pursuing MD in Radiology after completing her MBBS.
The sad demise of her father (who was a farmer) a year back, has left the family of eight (her mother, three siblings and grandparents) in an economic crisis. She wants to utilize this scholarship amount in paying her college fees for the last semester and complete her degree.
Internshala feels honored to have chosen her as the winner of Internshala Career Scholarship for Girls 2015. Well done Shobhalakshmi – we sincerely hope that the scholarship amount helps you give wings to your career dreams and inspires many more girls and women throughout the country to pursue their own dreams even more relentlessly.
Internshala Career Scholarship for Girls was instituted on 29th December 2012 due to the sad coincidence of the Delhi rape victim’s passing away on the same day as that of Internshala’s second anniversary. We have aimed to advance one girl’s career every year through an award of Rs. 25,000.
The selection criteria for the scholarship award are four-fold:
- An element of fighting against odds
- An element of achievement
- An element of purpose
- An element of need
