How I developed technical skills and built my career
About the Author: Tanmay Pandharipande completed his B.E. in Computer Science from Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune. He joined Internshala Trainings for Android training and recounts how it helped him in building his career.
A meaningful internship doesn’t just help in building one’s career but is also instrumental in the growth of an individual. After my graduation, I did not have a job. For a whole month, I just kept thinking of different ways to get a job. I had first heard about Internshala back in my third year. However, like many other things in college, this was also not taken seriously. We do have a knack for realizing the value of things, precisely when we no longer have them.
At the end of that one month, I decided to try the Internshala platform. I wasn’t sure about my technical skills and so didn’t start applying for the internships right away. I went through the training programs offered by Internshala. All the programs were great, but I was confused about the program that would be appropriate for me. As I already knew the concepts of Java, I decided to register for Android Training. When I asked my father about it, he motivated me to register and study seriously. The program fee was also nominal, and I even got a discount through the Refer a friend campaign.
The support team was really helpful; I had some issues in registering but they helped me over the phone and provided appropriate guidelines. Finally, my tryst with the Android training began. The syllabus was divided into different modules. There were solved questions after each lecture for our practice. There were tests at the end of every module. Without clearing those tests, one couldn’t move to the next module. All the doubts were cleared through the live chat with the trainers. The discussion forum was also a great medium to clear doubts especially when someone came up with the problems and solutions which I didn’t think of myself. At the end of the program, a final exam was conducted on the basis of which the training certificates were issued.
The training gave a huge boost to my confidence and I started applying for Android Development internships. Within few days, I got shortlisted by Noted. The interview process consisted of two rounds – an online test and a telephonic interview. Finally, I was selected for the internship. This internship provided me the much-needed exposure to the Android industry and gave me a lot of ideas. In a span of just three months, I had developed a deep interest in this field and finally secured a job as an Android Developer. After about 8 months, I didn’t have much workload and decided to go for some interesting internships. I applied for some marketing internships as I wanted to explore new things and got hired by GullyFood. Now, my mornings were spent as an Android Developer and evenings as a Marketing intern. It was one hell of an experience!
The tagline Internships that matter is not just a tagline but the ultimate truth; Internshala does provide meaningful internships. Internshala is very special to me as my career started because of it. Every single student I meet, I try to make them aware about Internshala – an outstanding platform to develop and shape one’s career.
