National Initiative on Undergraduate Science HBCSE-TIFR – Physics Summer Camp – Mumbai, India
An excellent opportunity for fist year students who love physics! NIUS programme is designed to provide extended nurture and guidance to undergraduate students in science. Applications are invited for NIUS (PHYSICS) – batch IX (2012 – 2013) from first year undergraduate students of science [BSc/MS/MSc (integrated)] and engineering (BTech, BE.). The last date to apply is March 15. 2012 – hurry!
About NIUS: – The NIUS is an extended nurture program for undergraduate students. Each batch of selected students is nurtured over a two year period working on research projects during summer vacations. A typical student attends three to four camps each of two to four weeks duration. More information about this unique initiative can be found at – http://nius.hbcse.tifr.res.in/
About Summer Program for Physics: – In this programme students attend nurture camps organized by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), Mumbai, and work on proto-research projects during their vacations over a period of two years (June 2012 – June 2014). The first camp will be held at HBCSE, Mumbai, tentatively during June 18 – 30, 2012. This camp will be an exposure and enrichment camp where leading scientists will offer short courses of a pedagogical nature on core topics in physics. The students, selected at the end of the first camp will carry out project work with mentors during the subsequent camps.
Who can apply: – First year undergraduate students of science [BSc/MS/MSc (integrated)] and engineering (BTech, BE.) with at least 55% marks or equivalent in their Class X and Class XII examination. First year students who have participated in the physics or astronomy Olympiad orientation cum selection camp (OCSC) at HBCSE or have received KVPY fellowship are especially encouraged to apply.
