ISP 6.0 – A Journey of Revelations
About the Author: Akhil Ahuja is a 4th-year law student from Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University. He joined the extended team of Internshala during ISP 6.0 program and talks about his experience of working with the team.
I have a habit of understanding things by not just reading through the lines but also reading through the words. I could not stop myself from being awed by the great use of the name Intershala which depicts ‘Internships’, the modern way of learning, clubbed with ‘Pathshala’, the classical way of learning. The word in itself says it all – a step towards the future by strolling along the past. An aim not just to make people literate but to educate them and to make them understand the practicality of everything.
I believe in the saying that you learn something new every day of your life, but this remains true only if you are ready to explore something new and put yourself to the test. ISP (Internshala Student Partner) is not just a word or a post that I have added to my list of achievements. ISP is a revelation to me about a whole new world of corporate opportunities that exist out there, knocking at the door every minute.
Internshala is a platform that has helped me attain my goals. Most of the people getting in touch with Internshala tend to say that it helped them overcome their fear of public speaking and communicating with people at large. It has also helped a number of students gain the social and self-esteem of holding a position of responsibility and honor. However, the set of goals that I have achieved is of a different nature. I was lucky enough to have the public speaking skills that had helped me in being elected as the Student Representative of my department in our university elections. But being elected was not enough. I had all the fame because of it but to cross the thin line between fame and respect, I had to serve – serve with all the dignity and zeal at my end.
My personal goal was to provide my fellow mates a good professional environment which would help them to be ready when they step out of the college. Internships were the best medium to get closer to that aim of mine and what could have been a better option than Internshala! It’s, after all, a magical platform which works well as a bridge and brings together the seeker and the provider. The best way to help someone is to guide her to the right path and Internshala does that work impeccably.
As law students, we are often referred to as the torch bearers of the society as we are bestowed upon with a duty of leading the society on the right path. This ISP program gave me the opportunity of doing it for my peers. They often say charity begins at home; before we lead someone we must mend our own character and become worth leading. It’s not easy to be a protagonist of any story and play your role perfectly unless you have a good support from other players. Internshala has been that backbone for me, helping me perform well as one of the leading ISPs of my team. Thanks a lot, Internshala.
