Internship at Amazon – Neha from St Francis College
We all have such friends who give us the last ultimatum but still wait for us to return, who would not quit playing pranks irrespective of time and age and who would ensure that we grow up but still are a kid at heart. Neha had a similar experience during her internship. The days spent interning at Amazon will always be fresh in her memory.
It all started with a dream to intern at the world’s largest e-commerce company Amazon, and there I was collecting my offer letter at 11:30 pm after clearing six rounds of the interview. My happiness knew no bounds. I messaged all my friends and family members the same night as it was difficult for me to hold back the information till next morning. I couldn’t sleep that night because I was so excited to eagerly get to work.
We were a group of 10 friends and I being the youngest was the most pampered one always. During the break, I would either end up discussing customer’s issues or thinking of ways to improve my performance and get to hear the same dialogue from my friends every day “Itna tension nakko le rey”.
I got obsessed with my work since the beginning, and I would make a point to thank all of my customers by dropping a mail at the end of day. Because of this, I even happened to miss my cab back home a couple of times. My friends would warn that this is the first and last time we are waiting for you, but would stay back every time I missed it.
During our training, we came across rumors about spooky happenings in our office building that we stayed back after our shift to see if they were true. Though, just like always, it was a rumour. On days of receiving stipend, we’d discuss all day long about where to spend the money.
We would sometimes exceed our break timings and end up in the manager’s room giving lame excuses and staring at each other. We would gossip about everything under the sun and made it a point to give our valuable expert opinion on every matter. Fights, misunderstandings, and arguments were a part of our schedule as well, but it was the rebounding that made it a memory to cherish. Crazy pranks of giving missed calls to other agents and asking them silly questions are something we continue till date. At times, we would end up doing each others’ college assignment as well.
My experience of interning with Amazon is something I will cherish all my life, for they were the best days spent with the most fun loving and crazy people I ever came across. Within a span of three months, we became so close that it was difficult to part our ways. As stupid as it sounds, tears just rolled down our eyes as we sat in our cabs getting back to home.
