About Avanti Fellows: – Avanti’s Learning Centers (http://avantifellows.org) provide low-income high-school students a world-class science and mathematics education. Avanti’s advisors include leaders in the for-profit and non-profit sectors in India and the US along with members of faculty at Harvard Business School, Stanford University and the IITs. About the internship: – There are two internship opportunities available.
- Learning Centre Operations: – In May’13, Avanit is launching 6 learning centres across Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur to enroll about 250 low income high school students. These centres would be first large scale implementation of the peer instruction pedagogy pioneered by Harvard physics professor, Eric Mazur.
In each learning centre, an intern will work directly with Program Associate to run centre’s day to day operations. For more detailed role description, please see this link - Curriculum Development: – As a Curriculum Development intern, you would report directly to Product Manager and create content and learning exercises that are tailored to peer instructions and intuitive learning (a transformative new learning system being developed in close collaborations with thought leaders in Education)
Who can apply: – For both the roles, the student must be self driven and possess strong grasp of 11th/12th science and maths curriculum.
Location: – Mumbai, Delhi & Kanpur for Learning Centre Operations internship and Mussoorie for Curriculum Development internship.
Duration: – 2 months (8th May – 15th July 2013)
Stipend: – Rs. 10,000-15,000/-per month (varies across both the roles)
