Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies: an impressive record of internships
About the college: – A management college in Mumbai, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies seems to value practical experience greatly. In the words of the Director, Dr. Stephen D’Silva:
We, at JBIMS, believe that today’s managers need to inculcate in them the quality to adapt to the changing environment and to possess an action oriented approach. Our educational and training programmes are anchored around the same philosophy.
It is also very proud of its location in Mumbai and proximity to Nariman Point, which, in the college’s own words, translates into:
…a symbiotic affiliation of the institute with corporate stalwarts. This equips the students with practical business acumen to nurture them to become future leaders.
About the internships:– The first thing that strikes us about the internships JBIMS students do is the diversity. Students have interned in Consulting, FMCG and Pharma, Finance, Media & Telecom and Manufacturing & Real Estate among others.
What sets it apart:– 100% summer internship placement record. Need we say more?

What the Placement Committee has to say:– Gaurav Mundra, a placement committee member says:
Despite the apprehensions regarding the conditions of the economy, we successfully secured 100% placements with a significant increase in stipends and placed students in reputed organizations with their desired profiles. Our healthy relations with the industry and the legacy of JBIMS helped ensure that the process was carried out without any glitches. We would also like to thank our alumni for their never ending support to the Placement Committee and the Institute.
We had a lot of interesting profiles on offer from some of the best companies in the industry. For me, it was a dream come true to have gained an opportunity to work with one of the most admired organizations and in a profile that I always aspired for. I look forward to make the most of it.
Summer internship constitutes a significant part of every B-school student’s academic life. It gives the students a chance to experience first-hand the practical application of all the knowledge and skills they learn during the course of their first year at JBIMS. This year’s summer placement season has been very impressive. The efforts of the placement committee have paid off and they have been able to successfully match the students’ aspirations by providing them opportunities in their desired companies and profiles. The large number of companies that have participated in the placement process and the diverse nature of job profiles they have offered have been the high points of this year’s summer placement season.
- Number of registered companies : 98
- Number of participating companies: 79
- Average domestic stipend: Rs. 89,000
- Highest domestic stipend offered: Rs. 2 lakhs
A 100% summer internship placement record (in the sector of the students’ choosing) is not something all colleges can boast of. Seeing how important industry experience is for Management students, the JBIMS placement committee deserves to be lauded.
