What I Expect From This Internship
Swapnil Surve, a final-year engineering student from VJTI, Mumbai with his nothing-left-to-do-in-life feeling talks about what attracted him to go back to the school of internships.
So, here I am sitting in a train with my laptop on my way to college trying to figure out what exactly I am expecting from this internship that I’ve just bagged at India’s most followed internship portal.
To be completely frank (because that’s what Sarvesh Sir told me to be :-P ), I have no idea.
I have no idea how it’s going to shape up. I have no idea whether I would enjoy it. And I have no idea whether I’ll be comfortable handling all the workload while trying to adapt to the fast-paced start-up ecosystem.
But, I can’t think of any better place to invest my time and effort right now than in Internshala. This beautiful website had indirectly helped me earn my first salary cheque. So, you could say that it’s my turn to return the favour.
Today, when I added ‘Entrepreneurship Intern at Internshala’ under the experience section on my LinkedIn profile (Yes, I’m pretty confident I’ll be able to complete my internship successfully in case that thought came in your mind), I was thinking about what I’ll be writing under the description part of it 3 months down the line. Perhaps, that would be my expectation from this internship that I don’t know about yet.
Now, I’ll come to those few of you who care about why I applied for this internship. Well, I have this dream of becoming an entrepreneur someday in my life. So, no prizes for guessing what got me attracted to apply for this internship opportunity. Not that I’m expecting myself to emerge as a full-fledged entrepreneur at the end of it, but yes, I am here for learning the tricks and trades of running a business from the people who have been doing it for the past 3 years.
Though, there are also some other pros here that I had considered. One of those being getting rid of the depressing I-don’t-have-anything-to-in-life feeling in your final semester of engineering. And well, to be honest, who wouldn’t mind earning a few bucks while developing your writing and marketing skills at the very least at the same time.
So, to sum it up, I’m hoping to get the opportunity to explore the start-up work culture as well as how well I fit in in this budding business world during this 3 month-long journey that I’ll share with the rest of my peers here. And I’m sure Internshala won’t disappoint me. All the best to myself!
