How I created my first mobile android app!
About the Author: Aabir Kumar Datta is pursuing B.Sc. Computer Science degree from D.G. Vaishnav College, Chennai. A diligent student and a passionate learner, Aabir spends a lot of time learning the new technologies on the block and that’s what made him sign up for Intershala Trainings for the Android training.
The manner in which I stumbled upon the Internshala Virtual Training Centre is actually quite funny! But I assure you that there is nothing funny about the training. We are a gang of ten friends at college; during one particularly boring lecture of a professor, we were playing a word-building game with the theme ‘websites’ and a friend of mine got stuck at the letter ‘I’. As his tube-light-of-intelligence suddenly shone bright, he blurted out ‘Internshala!’, almost loudly enough for the professor and the half of the class to redirect their stares at us!
Later in the evening, I went up to him, asked about the word which almost got us thrown out of the lecture, got more details— and, voila! I was on Internshala.com. I went through the FAQ’s and took an instant decision of signing up for the four week Android App Development course. I must confess that it is one of the best decisions I have taken till date as I am extremely happy with the time spent with Internshala and would strongly recommend it to everyone.
My training on Android App Development spanned over a period of 4 weeks, divided into four modules and punctuated by tests after each module. The slides are written in simple English and are easily discernible. The difficulty gradually increases from the first module to the last. The assignment questions in some of the slides make you think out of the box and are extremely interesting.
There were a few issues I faced during the course which made me doubt if I would be able to complete the course on time. One major issue was the software. The software provided to me was not compatible with my system and I couldn’t make it work even after repeated installations. But when I informed the Trainings support about this, they not only provided me with a different version of software but also gave me the detailed instructions for installation. People at Internshala are very supportive and thorough professionals. They kept calling me at regular intervals to check on my progress and treated my problem like their own. A special mention – Mr. Hemil Parmar was very prompt during this period and without him, I cannot even imagine the problem being rectified in just a couple of days. At the end of the course when I requested for an extension of two days; Internshala was extremely cordial about it and granted me access almost immediately.
Another innovative concept is the mini project which is to be completed at the end of the course. I got to design a basic calculator and I was very excited about it. The project is explained in detail in a .pdf file that has to be downloaded. It is broken down into different parts and is to be done step-wise. All this is explained very clearly in the .pdf and the chances of committing an error is almost minimal. I can use the app that I created in my mobile phone as well and keep boasting about it among friends. How cool is that!
I wanted to do an Android App Development Course for a long time and had been to several leading coaching centers in the city. There was always one problem or the other. Sometimes the rates were exorbitant, sometimes the timings weren’t suitable, sometimes the duration was too long or sometimes I wasn’t eligible for the course. But with Internshala, I could choose my timings for the course and work on the modules at any time of the day. The course duration is between 4-6 weeks and has no eligibility requirements. I think all these things combined together is the USP of Internshala Trainings.
Personally, I am all praise for Internshala. I am generally hesitant in providing good feedback. But my experience with Internshala was superlative. I am extremely pleased and it is one of the rare courses I have finished with a smile on my face.
