How an online training in Business Communication is shaping a brighter future for me
About the author: Richa Thyagarajan is a class 9th student of Ekya Schools, Bangalore. She landed an internship while still in school, thanks to her improved business communication skills.
As my learning story is an amalgamation of pure authenticity and genuineness, I would like to mention the fact that I undertook Internshala’s business communication skills training when I was in the ninth grade. Despite not having completed my matriculation, the ambition to have a tremendous advantage over other peers, by acquiring essential skills and developing a crucial sense of work ethic, was my objective behind taking the training. I heard about Internshala through word of mouth and learned that these online trainings could help me in achieving the skills required to land internships, jobs, and academic positions. The training course description and details piqued my interest, and I eagerly enrolled for it, with a motive to learn something new.
The duration of the training was four weeks and it allowed me to learn at my own pace from the comfort of my home. Hence, I was able to achieve a balance between the training and my academics. This training was divided into four modules: Introduction to Business Communication, Essential Communication Skills, The Application Process, and Workplace Communication Skills.
Each module was apprehensible, informative, and well explained. Every module had something new to offer, which hooked me to the training until the very end. The first module allowed me to understand the significance of communication, and how great communicators have the power to influence.
The second module gave insights on both oral and written communication, using day-to-day examples and frameworks. Handy tips on listening skills and empathy were also provided in this module. The third module laid emphasis on making compelling resumes and CVs and nailing GD rounds and Interviews. Long story short, this module is the key to success in landing positions in jobs and internships. The last module ‘Workplace Communication Skills’ elucidated important aspects relevant to the workplace, such as delivering phenomenal presentations and presenting work with class and finesse.
There were assignments and quizzes at the end of every module to engage and evaluate my learning. A live chat option along with a Q&A forum was available where doubts could be cleared by the mentors. In addition to this, the training also comprised an industrial project, where the learned skills could be applied along with a certificate of completion.
After I completed this training, I have a massive advantage over my peers. I can deliver phenomenal work and compelling presentations, with a touch of professionalism, and I am greatly appreciated for my work ethic. I have also attained leadership skills and currently hold the position of a Campus Ambassador at Ekya Schools (Bangalore), where I communicate with a wide number of people, ranging from young students to parents. I also landed an internship with Child Rights and You, Bangalore, where I use my expertise to aid the underprivileged. Moreover, the training has taught me skills which cannot be learned at school.
I am grateful to Internshala for providing me with an opportunity to gain dexterity and shape me to grow as a successful woman in the future. I would indeed recommend this training to everyone in any field, as communication is a vital aspect in today’s world.
