Internshala turns 2!
PS – I had written the post below before the sad news of passing away of Delhi rape victim came in and as a resident of Delhi-NCR myself I feel both ashamed and scared and its difficult to be in a celebration mood. To the victim and her family – We are sorry! As a mark of respect, the celebration image associated with the post has now been removed.
Today, Internshala turns 2. For those interested in trivia, 2 years ago on 29th December 2010, we registered the domain www.internshala.com and the landing page went up. This is how it looked on the day of launch.
Since then, it has been a dream run. One just has to read the student and employer testimonials sprinkled around the website to get a sense of impact Internshala has made and the lives we have touched.
I just looked up, in first month of website launch we recorded 386 visits; today 24 months later, we get about 150,000+ a month. It took us about 2 months to get the first employer to list an internship ; today we post 200+ internships every month. Internshala facebook page, non existent back then, has become India’s largest facebook page on internships with 30,000+ fans. And we continue to be financially viable business despite the core service remaining free of cost for students and employers.
Your Internship Story, Internfair, Internconnect, InternSaturday; all being first of their kinds initiative, continue to remain corner stones of Internshala journey towards bringing a culture of meaningful internships!
And how was this all made possible? For one, we have stayed really focused on internships and haven’t allowed other opportunities to distract us; and for two, I have had the fortune of having some of the smartest, passionate and dedicated people in the team, most of them intern themselves, who have ALWAYS delivered. I wonder how many CEOs in the world can say this about their team?
The year 2 celebrations, this post, and this video are dedicated to Internshala team – thank you guys! Its been an honor.
PS – I apologize for the poor quality of the video; apparently you can NOT learn video making in 48 hours :(
