After getting an ER in the last semester, my heart was broken. I had cleared my post graduation entrance exams and even had an offer letter of Genpact. But, I couldn’t join anything which made me feel miserable.
I didn’t want to waste a year, sitting at home and studying for the next years exams. I wanted exposure and experience of working in a company. So, I started applying for the internships.
You should always have a hope in your heart. There’s good in everything, you just need to have patience.
And, I came across the internship at DecisionStats. I applied here through Internshala. There were already around 40 applicants for 4 open positions when I had applied.
I thought that my chances are quite less of getting selected because of my ER. Agree or not, people look down upon you if you have got an ER. But DecisionStats looked beyond the ER, unlike other companies.
It’s been a week since I have joined here. It’s quite good here. I’m working here as a data science intern as well as getting training in many softwares like R and Python. I’m a non-programmer but my mentor has made me quite comfortable with programming. I’m even made to write blogs. You can check here – surbhidua.wordpress.com

I feel that getting an ER was a blessing in disguise. If I would not have got the ER, I would have been doing Masters in Maths. But, now I’m proud to say that I’m a budding data scientist. Who wouldn’t be? After all, Data scientist is the sexiest job of 21st century.
