Internship at IIM Ahemedabad – Ayanthi from Banasthali University

“Tell me and I forget.Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” Internships are the best way to practically implement your acquired knowledge.
I am a B.Tech Computer Science student in Banasthali University,Rajasthan. In my 2nd year I got my first internship opportunity. I was offered LNM Institute of Information Technology,Jaipur – Texas Instruments joint internship on ‘single board computer’. I was quite overwhelmed by this research internship offer I got in my second year and I immediately called my parents to inform them about this and that this summers I won’t be at home!
While destiny had some other plans for me in store, I was busy planning for my summers in Jaipur. Just few days before my joining, I fell ill. I was suffering from Jaundice!
It was raining hard both outside and inside.Alas! what can be more heartbreaking than a lost opportunity. But I was not one of them who would sit and cry. I always trusted my abilities and that things can be brought in control even in worst conditions.
After around twenty five days, I started recovering a bit. I was still supposed to take bed rest for one more month. Life had become too confined for me. One evening I took permission from my mother to use my laptop, after giving her lots of assurance that I was feeling better. I started searching for ‘work from home’ internships on Internshala website. I applied for internship in IIM Ahmedabad-RJMCEI program of “Educational Innovation Bank”, under the initiative named “Scholars for Change”. Fortunately I was selected! I received a confirmation mail from them. I was supposed to work with them for one month to generate high quality open-access multimedia multilingual content in science and mathematics. I was in the content development team. I was extremely pleased and within minutes it became my Facebook status. Family and friends began congratulating me.
Finally, I started working. Each week we were given various new topics to work upon. It was fun working on them as I got so many new courses to study. At the end of each week we were given points for our work and the points really mattered as the one with most points at the end of whole term of the internship would be awarded ‘Best Intern’ award. I still remember the joy I felt upon receiving the highest points at the end of first week. I was no more feeling depression and weakness because of my illness as all my focus was in my work.
So quickly passed my one month and finally the day came when the list of interns whose work has been accepted by panel members was to be announced. And I made it, my name was there! Finally I was awarded the certificate.

I realized that I had made my Summer 2015 , inspite of things seeming quite gloomy in the beginning. I am extremely thankful to God, Internshala and IIM Ahmedabad for giving me this opportunity.
