Internship at Professional Knowledge & Career Guidance Pvt. Ltd. – Unma from Nagindas Khandwala College of Commerce, Arts & Management Studies
You are the creator of your own destiny. Unma (girl on the right in orange top and black jeans) shares her wonderful experience of internship days.
My internship began in the year 2014, when I was 17 years old. I had just stepped in to my degree college when I got the opportunity to work with Professional Knowledge & Career Guidance Pvt. Ltd. It was an educational organization aiming at a secured future of kids in India. Being in a stage where people count me the population that will make the nation proud, I thought taking up this internship can be a stepping stone. With the hope of learning something new, for experiencing something that I had never done before, I went for the interview.
Since, it was my first interview, I had no idea what it would be like. Yet, I was confident, and maybe that’s what worked for me. I was given a trial of seven days and fortunately I went through. My internship began in the month of August. And soon, in no time, I felt like being an important part of this organization. Inspite of working from home, I felt like I was there with them. My colleagues were more like friends. I had to go to office once in a week or two. I used to wait for the mail for the weekly meeting. They treated me like the youngest kid in the family is treated. Initially I had to research about educational institutes, courses offered by them and every other detail. Later my profile was filled with a number of new things. I had never expected that I would get such a great exposure at this age. It was all going really well when my first year of college ended and my summer vacations began. I decided to join my colleagues in the office for two months and experience how is the environment at the work place. I had no idea what was coming my way.
When I discussed the thought of joining the office for two months with my boss, she immediately gave me a green signal with a massive responsibility of handling other interns. I was a bit nervous in the beginning but the way my boss supported me, it all seemed very easy. Each time I used to face a problem dealing with interns, I just had to turn around, and there she was, like a support system. My boss is more like a guardian to me. I think this is the only organization where the employees have lunch with their boss. Perhaps that’s enough to know how healthy the environment of this organization is. ‘Boss is the cruelest person in the organization’ is a myth. If bosses are like mine, organization is more like family. The way she praises me for everything that I do, builds up my confidence and boosts my self esteem. The things that she says while praising someone can make that person’s day.
The environment which I experience at my work place gives me a sense of togetherness. Nobody here holds a bossy attitude. Every problem is faced with unity and that is the strength of this organization. Being the youngest in the organization is maybe an added benefit to me, but the opportunities I get here are incredible. Maybe that is the reason that I am working here for more than a year and I want more of it.
