Internship at Bosch Sensortec GmbH – Vineetha from University of Stuttgart
Her courage and determination made her travel to far distances. Everything she wanted was achieved by her. The one happy family was made there and the bundle of memories are there for her to treasure.
It’s not years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years that counts. – Abraham Lincoln.
‘Be different’, are the words from my parents that has always made my mind actively approach new and better ways in life. Yes, it all started when I decided to pursue masters in Germany, broaden my horizon in an international atmosphere and finally contribute to my country with the knowledge that I acquire. I can proudly say that my decision to step further in gaining technical education in a country that is world class in technology, science and innovation has made it happen. Technology and innovation have truly made our lives easier and when you realize that you are involved in making the world an easier and happier place to live, the feeling of satisfaction and achievement is boundless. Along with the technical knowledge, I learnt a new culture, new language and new methodologies to approach life.
Here, I would like to share my experience till now in the process of pursuing master’s degree in Communications Engineering and Media Technology at University of Stuttgart, Germany and my first industry exposure through an internship. On the first day, finding a diverse background of people in a single place amazed me with joy. Everyone had a different mindset and approach. Making new international friends, learning about their country and culture reminded me Lord Krishna’s preaching of “Vasudhaiva kutumbakam”, i.e. the world is a family. The learning method here was totally application oriented. Theoretical knowledge back in bachelor’s gave a strong foundation thus helping me focus further. Along with studies, I worked part time under university professors as student research assistant, learnt speaking German and was awarded a scholarship from German Ministry of Education and Research. Laterally, travelling became my passion and I loved visiting different countries and places. I would definitely recommend people to adopt travelling as a hobby which would enhance tolerance, broaden one’s thinking ability and teaches life’s values.
After months of struggle in the process to find an internship, I finally got the opportunity to do my internship at Bosch Sensortec GmbH. I gained knowledge about the inertial sensors used in today’s world. Our work was dedicated to the consumer electronics offering a complete range of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) sensors and solutions that enable mobile devices to feel and sense the world around them. I learnt about the development of algorithms of MEMS sensors and solutions for smartphones, tablets, wearable devices and IoTS (Internet of Things & Services) applications. I also got an opportunity to work with the upcoming smart watches used for step counting algorithms. This was the best phase where I could learn the real time applications of sensors.
And then came the momentous part, Master thesis. Every degree has a phase of putting together the gained knowledge into application. I would be starting my master thesis at Bosch car Multimedia, with an innovative and challenging topic of advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) used in cars. It makes me very happy that I would come out as a master graduate with the knowledge that would help my country in progression and development.
To conclude, though the journey was a roller coaster ride, it was undeniably fruitful. All I would like to say is learning with passion and dedication will certainly award you with the treasure of knowledge. Explore, learn and contribute!
