Internship at NIT Kurukshetra – Sharan from Central University of Karnataka
First experience always matters the most to us, as we are exposed to the entirely new situations for the first time. Interning in a new city adds much more fun to it. Sharan along with his friend explored the city and lived best days of his life there. His first experience was so good that it triggers him more to intern often.
This is the story of the first internship of my engineering career, I was pretty anxious for this one, but it actually turned out better than I had expected it to be. I had a lot of experience in this internship which I attended, I was with three other friends of mine, and we had got an internship in NIT Kurukshetra. A huge thanks to our coordinator, Dr.V.Sandeep, back at the Central University of Karnataka, who made it possible for us to get this internship.
It was one long ride to Haryana, from Karnataka almost took us two days. And once we reached the NIT, as it was summertime, we couldn’t find many students there. And our guide, an Assistant Professor at NIT Kurukshetra, Dr. Jayaram N, met us when we reached there and were taken to the NIT Guest House. We settled down, taking a single room for two guys. The rooms and the amenities were extremely good in the guest house. We were given a few days of time to settle in, we had plenty of time to look around the college and even the district of Kurukshetra, which was a pretty good trip.
Then, we used to go to the Staff room daily for around 4-5 hours to work on the topics which were related to Power Electronics. We learned a lot, MATLAB simulations, plotting various kinds of outputs, using VISIO software etc and we used to compare many various circuits, their working, and functions both theoretically and on simulation. And one more thing for which we absolutely found our guide amazing was, he gave us a lot of free time to roam, travel around, and didn’t give us any work pressure, which helped us a lot in both, relaxing and completing our project work within time.
We both had a great vacation and a great study internship, some places we traveled during were, Kasauli, Shimla, Delhi, Dehradun, IIT Roorkee. Our guide encouraged us to visit other colleges and look at their institutions and to meet other students. We found him absolutely great. And I do hope one day to become an inspiring professor like him. Our whole internship spanned for two months from 1st week of June to the 3rd of August and I do say, they were most enjoyable days.
That’s a brief overlook of my Internship story and I do hope to write many such stories about my internships and projects in the future.
