Internship under Vice Chancellor of Delhi University – Jasleen from Department of Germanic and Romance Studies
Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try. Jasleen is pursuing Social science and shares her wonderful experience of internship days.
Well, my internship starts with the ending of volunteership at Dean Students’ Welfare Office in my summer vacations. Online registration, interview and I was selected. Woah, I got the golden opportunity to work with the Vice Chancellor of Delhi University and see the VC’s House and Vice Regal Lodge.
On the first day I was nervous but in a tizzy too. Vice Chancellor and all the mentors addressed us. We were divided into various groups. Different group had different place of work. I was assigned University Guest House, an important section of Delhi University.
Next day we went to the site. What a beautiful and adorable place it was. Mentor and the Head of UGH threw a light upon what we had to do. We had to suggest methods and techniques to improvise guest house and list the unfavourable things.
The staff and people over there were kind and helpful. Beside these official things we acquainted ourselves to each other and did some chit chat. We made ourselves comfortable in that place. Fifteen days we did our project, submitted it on time and was up to the mark. At last we were bestowed with a certificate and a token of appreciation. We all friends enjoyed, did party and obviously clicked a lot of selfies to remember the cherishing moments. We went behind the scenes and learnt many things and reaped the benefits – developed communication, professional skills and time management. It helped me to know more about myself, my interests, strengths and weaknesses, develop better work habits and increased my confidence. It expanded my professional network and helped me to collect professional references.
I’m thankful to Delhi University who provided such efficacious and crucial internships.
