Another gem of a Government internship, this time from CCI! It’s really heartening to see Government organizations giving due importance to involving student community & giving them adequate exposure to the organization work and activities that in form of an internship. I used to envy US graduates for programs like “White House interns”, but may be no more! What do you think?
About Competition Commission of India: – Competition Commission of India (CCI) (http://www.cci.gov.in/index.php) was established by the Central Government with effect from 14th October 2003. It is the duty of the Commission to eliminate practices having adverse effect on competition, promote and sustain competition, protect the interests of consumers and ensure freedom of trade in the markets of India. The Commission is also required to give opinion on competition issues on a reference received from a statutory authority established under any law and to undertake competition advocacy, create public awareness and impart training on competition issues.
About Internship: – CCI had initiated internship training programme in the year 2005 to familiarize students from Economics, Law, Management, and Finance about the Competition Law and its provisions and to impart training on competition and related issues. The interns will primarily be required to write a paper on competition related themes/issues arising out of the Competition Act, 2002 and of relevance to the Commission. The interns, if required, may be asked to participate in related activities like training and research in the Commission. A senior officer of the Commission will be assigned to each intern as Guide. The intern will prepare the paper under the guidance of his Guide.
Who can apply: – Students of the following streams are eligible to apply – M.A / M.Sc. (Economics), 4th and 5th year students of a five year integrated Economic program, MBA, Chartered Accountant (CA), Company Secretary (CS), LLM, 2nd/3rd year students in Bachelor of Law degree, 4th and 5th year students of a five year integrated course in Law.
Location: – Delhi, India
Duration: – 1 month
Stipend: – Rs. 8,000 / month + At the end of the successful completion of internship, the interns will be awarded a ‘Certificate’ along with a grading based on the performance of the intern.
Start date: – it’s a rolling internship available throughout the year
Last date to apply: – The application should be made 3 months in advance of the desired time period, clearly mentioning the period for which internship is being applied.
