A SUPERb one-day internship at Swiggy
About the author: Abhi Khode is an MBA Tech student at SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. He shares the scoop on interning at Swiggy.
When I stumbled upon Internshala’s one-day internship campaign, I was surprised to see the kind of companies I could intern with. Being a marketing and branding enthusiast, I applied for the branding role at Swiggy as I had followed many of their quirky campaigns and had heard about their positive company culture. Through this internship, I wanted to get hands-on exposure in branding and learn from experts.
The first round of selection procedure consisted of resume-based screening along with a set of questions such as –
1. Why is talent branding important for an organisation?
2. Why should you be hired?
I gave a detailed answer to the first question by explaining how talent branding improved an organisation’s work environment. In my response to the second question, I mentioned my skills and strengths that would be useful during the internship. Furthermore, I wrote about my interest in branding.
After my application was shortlisted, I was called in for the interview round, and it turned out to be one of the best interviews of my life! I answered questions related to my resume, the role I had applied for, and branding. The evaluation was based on my communication style and thought process while answering questions. It ended with a good discussion, and I learned many new things in my first meeting itself. Although I did not know whether I would be selected, I was happy to be a part of the process.
Once I was selected, the Internshala team briefed me about the internship and the teams in which I would be interning. I remember how stoked I was the night before my one-day internship! When the day finally arrived, I was amazed by all the challenges that had been planned for me.
I primarily worked on three tasks. In the first assignment, I put together a campaign for SDE3 hiring. This involved ideating engagement ideas and channels and thinking about the desired outcomes. My second task of the day revolved around a community launch; I had to drive community engagement, ensure participation, and maintain continuity. Lastly, I gave a presentation to present all my ideas to the talent branding team.
Even though I was new to this space, I was given a lot of creative freedom and got to interact with key stakeholders. All the new ideas that I shared with the team were met with enthusiasm, which helped me learn and grow. Moreover, the internship helped me meet my objective of learning about branding holistically.
I am grateful to Manju Thomas, Shivani Barde, Manasa M.N., and Madhu Karuthedath for teaching me and making me feel comfortable since the moment we met. I am looking forward to learning more from the team. Lastly, a big shout-out to Internshala for making the process seamless.
