Internshala has given me both power and freedom
Nitisha Pandey has been with Internshala for about 10 months. She recently left her super-amazing internship with Internshala for a job at TCS. But we still love her, and admire her for her strength, resilience and general awesomeness. She has been behind the success of many of Internshala’s endeavours, and here she writes about her time at Internshala:
I’ve been thinking pretty hard about what to exclude from this write-up, because they are so many things to say. Ten months is a very long time and one article wouldn’t be enough. So I will exclude the being thankful, the things I learnt and what I did at Internshala part. The next section will tell you why.
Internshala has given me both power and freedom (with expert guidance, of course). How?
Remember the innumerable times you’ve given up on yourself and said – ‘I don’t know this’ or ‘How can I do it?’ Well, Internshala changes that. It gives you the power to do things which will make you treat the company as your own, to make people win, to judge others based on your experience and capability and in no time your thinking will turn into – ‘Hell yeah! I can do it’. There’s nothing to which you won’t say yes. Internshala has given me the freedom to challenge myself, to implement my ideas practically and receive feedback, to choose what I wanted to work on and take a break when I wanted to.
You’d think that working with a start-up has its advantages, but let me point it out very clearly that the people in the organization matter the most. Being a work from home intern isn’t easy, not when your entire team is only virtually connected from all the four corners of the nation. Incredible, right? So, believe me when I say that the IS team is spectacular. There’s Sarvesh – the founder/CEO and Mr. Perfectionist. The amount of insight he puts into every single detail (from a comma, a space to the entire format of a post or an email) will certainly amaze you and so will his tricks at poker (this I’ve only heard of). Ruchi is like the elder sister I never had. She’s the Head of Employer Relations and a sweetheart. From work to personal relationship advice, you can discuss anything with her. Then, there’s Jaai (Yes, I’ve spelled it correctly and it’s the name of a girl). She is a younger version of me, but way smarter. She’s the social media expert at IS and the one who’s constantly trolled. Abhinav is the geek God who manages all the technical details of the website and keeps it rolling. Sonal, Sidharth and Suthirth – the three musketeers of Internshala deserve a special mention. Let’s just say that they keep Internshala alive. Not to forget, that there are many hidden faces too who are responsible for Internshala’s success and its present glory.
You would want me to stop with the bragging, but I’ve not mentioned the great stuff yet. Internshala helped me afford an Android smartphone for myself (yes, we’re paid good and to our worth), gifts for my parent’s birthdays and pamper myself with a few new dresses too. The surprise contests between the team members with mobile recharge as prize and the Internshala tees make you feel special and will get you eager to indulge in a little show-off.
Now that it’s time to say goodbye, I feel proud and fortunate to be associated with Internshala. It has helped me through one of the toughest times of my life (waiting to get my joining letter :P) and given me an amazing experience to cherish. I will always owe you one Internshala. Wishing you all the best and success in all your future endeavors.
