This internship promises to be a serious affair for those who want to make a career in Governance/Public Policy. We often complain about the challenges that we as a nation, India as a democracy, face. The prices are rising, political leadership is corrupt, reforms are too slow, the bureaucracy is inefficient, politics is criminalized, justice is delayed so often and for so long that it is worse than justice denied – the list is practically endless.
This internship with Foundation for Democratic Research (think tank behind Lok Satta) is your chance to understand the complexities that lawmakers and decision-makers at highest level face in formulation of public policies and study, suggest better frameworks and solutions. The previous interns include some of the brightest brains from IITs, IIMs, IIITs, Law Schools etc.

About Foundation for Democratic Research: – Foundation for Democratic Reforms (FDR, http://www.fdrindia.org/) is India’s leading think-tank and scientific research-resource center for studying, formulating and promoting fundamental reforms in political, electoral and governance spheres and in critical areas of state policy. It was established in 1996 and is based in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. The ultimate aim of FDR’s research is to help enable every Indian citizen to fully realize and enjoy:

About the internship: – Internship program involves being part of the highly dynamic and exciting team in :
- Research and Analysis of the functioning of democratic and constitutional institutions in India towards formulating and promoting political and governance reforms. This includes the scientific study and analysis of electoral, administrative, judicial reforms and related. This includes the study of best practices and systems from across the world.
- The study, formulation and promotion of state/public policy alternatives in critical areas, compatible with the FDR’s reform goals.
- Collaborative research and advocacy efforts with like-minded research institutions, individuals and civil society organizations towards realizing the first two objectives; promoting the capacity building of individuals, institutions and organizations in these areas.
Who can apply: – Anyone with demonstrable interest and required thinking and analytical skills may apply. FDR regularly hosts interns and research volunteers from reputed academic and research institutions and organizations such as IITs, IIMs, IIITs, Law Students and Graduates, Professionals from various fields taking a sabbatical from work, and Students of Mass Communication, Journalism and Advertising

Duration: –2 month
