Rajiv Gandhi Research Assistants to Legislators – New Delhi
An excellent paid opportunity for fresh graduates and post-graduates interested in public policy to work with the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Contemporary Studies. Selected candidates will provide research assistance to Members of Parliament and the Institute. About RGICS : – The Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies (RGICS) is an independent national public policy think tank working at cutting edge policy challenges at the intersection of public policy and politics. RGICS seeks to democratize the policy space by opening up policy-making to the voice of common people; lending policy support to people’s struggle for policy change; and enhancing the policy competence of elected representatives and political activists. The Institute is promoted by the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation.
About the internship: – The RG-RALs program provides a unique opportunity to work with a cross-section of MPs from the Indian National Congress on cutting edge policy and legislative challenges facing India. Selected RG-RALs will be an integral part of the RGICS Policy Research Service, which provides quality, non-partisan and professional research assistance on policy issues to Members of Parliament. They will also be involved in the research work of the Institute. RG-RALs will undergo a rigorous orientation program and will be guided by subject experts.
Who can apply: –
- Indian citizens (maximum 25 years of age, 28 for SC/ST applicants)
- Graduate with an outstanding academic record, exceptional leadership qualities and achievements
- Proven excellent analytical and communication skills (spoken and written, in English)
- Proven research skills and past experience or published articles in policy work would be highly desirable
- Willingness to travel to rural areas for field work.
Number of positions available: – 15
Location: – Delhi. Network with fellow interns in Delhi via Internconnect.
Duration: – One year beginning from July 2013
Stipend: – Rs. 20,000 – Rs. 22,000 based on qualifications and experience.
