As I sit here reflecting on my internship with iGyaan, I can’t help but smile. The past few months have been both an amazing learning opportunity and a great deal of fun. The position has taught me to do what I can with what I have and has kept me on my toes for a few months straight. There’s never a dull moment, and I absolutely enjoy that. Through an internship, one can gain experience in applying one’s knowledge in the industry, preparing one for the workforce.
As a brand-name, iGyaan is one of the best places I could’ve interned at. It is India’s largest technology portal, is loved by users and is related to my field of study: technology! I worked from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm daily for five days a week. Assisted by 2 other people, we worked as a team of three people in dishing out all the latest news and reviews related to mobile phones, computers etc., basically technology! My training in computers was highly essential in this area as also my communication skills. During this period, I also assisted the company in communicating with its clients over its website. I currently work as a creative content writer at iGyaan. This position has allowed me to gain real-world experience in communications, marketing, design and more. I am responsible for blogs, articles, corporate outreach and video reviews, concentrating heavily on the technology around us.
I get to use all the latest cell-phones, cameras and other gadgets and give my feedback to the public. My internship also brings unique opportunities such as a chance to see and meet high-ranked officials and celebrities such as Parineeti Chopra from many major companies like HCL, Micromax, etc. at their product launches. These are amazing events which I won’t forget. Meeting local and regional media personnel was another one of my favourite experiences.
Watching my supervisors and co-workers rise to the occasion again and again has shown me the enormous impact just a few people can have in the realm of communications. I consider myself lucky to receive guidance from such a knowledgeable and hard-working team. On top of all this I get a behind-the-scenes look at a fascinating industry.
I started this journey as an average consumer, watching and reviewing technology and gadgets. 2 months later, I have a passion for technology, can fully align myself with the company’s values and am excited about spreading their message. Overall, my internship experience has provided me with a new-found passion for communications and inspired me to explore new talents. It has revived my love of learning and given me just about everything I could hope for in an internship. Not every intern can say that about their experience. According to me, the point of having an internship is that I can prepare myself for the time when I join the workforce, in terms of confidence and competence, something which I have achieved.
