Summer internship in Mumbai – Vocational Training Program Coordination – Tata Institute of Social Sciences
An excellent summer internship opportunity for Management, Social Sciences, Journalism, Education students to get involved with a new initiative, School of Vocational Education, by prestigious Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The application deadline is 14th May, 2013 – hurry!
About School of Vocational Education, TISS : – School of Vocational Education (http://sve.tiss.edu/) is a new initiative at TISS to implement training programmes in different trades through partnerships with various industrial and service sectors. The model of training adopted would be ‘work-integrated skills initiation and development’ akin to the ‘dual education system’, followed in Germany and other European nations. The unique aspect of the training is that apart from entry level skills, the programme would provide long term career development and continuing education opportunities including upgrade as well as cross transfer to academic streams as per the National Vocational Education Qualification Framework (NVEQF).
About the internship: – The selected intern’s role would be to:
1. Develop contacts with different training partners/industries willing to collaborate with TISS in imparting vocational education to students in different job oriented trades/vocations.
2. Work with partners to develop curriculum for such courses on the basis of community college framework and establish the arrangements for work integrated training.
3. To monitor the progress of the MoUs entered with different partners and follow up of the enrolled students.

Who can apply: – Preferably the Management Graduates but students from other streams especially Social Sciences, Journalism, Education etc are also welcome. Students who are confidant of working independently, and who are comfortable in networking and following up, would be better suited for this Internship.
Location: – Mumbai. Network with fellow interns in Mumbai via Internconnect.
Duration: – 1 month (minimum)
Start date: – May 2013
Stipend: – Negotiable + On the completion of internship period, Certificate of Experience, Letter of Recommendation would be provided by the institute. Travel allowance and work related expenses would be provided to the interns.
