Serendipity – the word says it all! A fortunate stroke of serendipity is how I would describe my experience at Taxi For Sure. It all began about 4 months ago when I randomly applied for a marketing intern in a start-up called Taxi For Sure. I was lucky to be in Bangalore when I was called for a screening round on a Sunday.
The interview or rather a normal conversation happened in their office, a small room (as small as my hostel room). The room had things strewn across and there was hardly any place to sit. A bean bag was lying somewhere in the corner. Aprameya (one of the co-founders) asked me a few questions and said I could intern there over the summer. I was surprised that the interview got done so quickly. I remember thinking to myself, these guys work on a Sunday; the work better be good!
A month later when I actually started my internship I was in for what could possibly be one of the best experiences of my life. I was unaware that Taxi For Sure had got funding from Accel, Helion and Blume Ventures about a week before I joined. Little did I know that I would witness a garage-like start-up grow into a huge force. I saw a 10 member close knit team transform into a 30 member organisation in 2 months. The exposure I got was something that one has to go through to be able to understand. Though the internship profile said marketing, I got to do varied stuff.
A part of the work involved call centre duty. This was an eye-opener, the understanding of people and their behaviour was a key take away here. On the marketing and branding front I got to interact with a lot of people and got exposed to the various possible options for marketing. The best part about a start-up is that there is no such thing as right, everything is an uncertain experiment, all you can do is to wait and see how it unfolds.
Disorganized atmosphere and chaos was somehow more enjoyable than an organised structure. I saw many join the team and some leave. The friends I made and relations I built will last forever. It feels bad to be leaving the system. I am sure Taxi For Sure will scale great heights and revolutionise the taxi industry. Wishing the entire team the best of luck! Will miss you guys! Pramod G S
