Though my stint with my MBA internship is yet to come next year but some good hormones start tingling when I hear the word “internship”. I had my first stint with the corporate in 3rd year of my engineering i.e. in 2008 with Reliance Communications- CDMA division(Lucknow).
As it was the time then, CDMA phone were on demand because of their night 11 to 6 plan. Lovers’ favorite service providers! Excitement was high among all of us at my campus when I got the offer and so was I on cloud 9! My Internship began with tours of some prominent circles in and around Lucknow, climbing of tele-towers, understanding spectrum basics etc.
I was the part of simulation team. So my role dealt mainly with understanding circuitry and implementing it digitally. But as the saying goes – “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” – so my workplace was fun too. Being the youngest and that too a girl, I enjoyed large number of treats, pamperings, early day offs, and weekend offs etc. Stipend was decent for a city like Lucknow. My manager was a very friendly person and equally decent team members. The best thing I learned there was team spirit. Every assignment was taken as a team responsibility and knowledge sharing session used to happen on regular basis.
Also various lectures and guest seminars used to happen for knowledge transfers among teams. Learning was fun there as it was filled with practical implementation and that is the beauty of any profession. But as every happy phase has to come to an end, so did my 2 months: sob-sob ! It was a team and I felt it was part of my life those days. My farewell was a lovely affair and got the title of “CDMA kid” there.
After coming back to campus, I was asked lot of questions like ” Did you get a phone?” or ” Did you get any free top-ups?” ,etc. But to all these I had just a simple answer ” I got beautiful time, (it was)well mentored and fun-filled!!”.
Was this interesting? If yes, please like the post on facebook (below) and help Vini become winner of the week and win the prize (Rs. 1,000/-) that she truly deserves!
