Having interest in fundamental research, I could not apply whole heartedly to the initial companies that came to the campus for internship projects. So I waited with positive outlook for a company that would be relevant to my area of interest. And my wait was over when the Aditya Birla Group (Textile Research And Development Centre) registered for the selection process. Being in the top 3 of the departmental strength of above 50 students, I felt happy to get the opportunity. Entering the green campus, it instilled in me the enthusiasm to work. I spent my first week at Kharach township in Gujarat for my induction process. Seeing my interest in basic sciences I was asked to join A.B.S.T.C , situated in Mumbai, which was more of a fundamental research centre that was equipped with the state-of-the art analytics facilities and modern technology equipments.
Work culture and the environment were so assuaging that inspired me further to work there. The research associates helped me plan my experiments properly and well timed so as to get my reactions completed before the clock runs out for the day. Being supervised by Dr. Anasuya Sahoo and Dr. Preeti Lodha, both I.I.T.D alumni, it was a great learning experience for me to know about the industry oriented research and the technical challenges one faces in scaling up the processes one requires for commercialization in an efficient manner.
The environment was surrounded by Ph.Ds everywhere and those brain storming sessions with everyone debating the fundamental theorems & challenging each other were the icing on the cake. They helped me by sharing their research experience and letting me know about the opportunities that one could explore. Overall it was a great experience for me to have an internship that made me learn about the corporate research environment and fun time that I enjoyed with the people of the extra ordinary calibre which made me feel proud.
