The lessons from a short stint at Internshala – No task is insurmoutable!
Pallavi Chakravorty a.k.a Pixie is enthusiasm personified. There is a whole new arm of Dietary Science dedicated to study what she has for breakfast that keeps this Energy Ball rolling :). May be she herself, a 2nd year Biotech student at IIT Madras that she is, would find that out one day.
Pallavi joined Internshala for a short stint to take care of Student Publicity for Internfair 2012 and the sheer commitment and drive with which she (along with Sowmya) handled such a huge responsibility makes you wonder if she was really doing it for the first time! Easily one of the most reliable and go-getter member of Internshala team, we wish to see her return VERY soon to do even more amazing things! Her experience at Internshala in her own words…
I am more of a speaker and less of a writer. So, penning down my thoughts is not an easy task for me. And talking about emotional stuff, being serious is all the more difficult. But when it comes to Internshala, I am willing to do so.
What began as a simple winter internship which I took up just because I had a lot of free time during the vacations, it will be an addition on my resume when I sit for interviews and a chance to work with some very good people I had heard about in insti, Internshala went on to become one of the most cherished experiences of my life. I had never thought that rather than feeling like an intern, I am soon going to feel like a full time employee and get emotionally attached with its failures and successes. The joy I felt whenever we got a mail telling us that we are getting 5000 likes a day, the jubilant I became when I saw the articles which got printed in Hindu NXG and other places, the frustration which used to brew up when the day of launching Internfair got postponed every now and then, the annoyance of not being able to reach out to the number of colleges decided on a particular day due to lack of time and all the classes in between, and the ecstasy when Internfair was finally launched, Internshala made me experience all of these emotions. No wonder it has been a roller coaster ride which I hadn’t anticipated to enjoy to this extent. From being a startup, Internshala became our startup.
Even now, when my part of the job (read publicity) is done, I daily check my mails to see what is going on. No wonder in the beginning, the pressure was very high. The team was small, the target was huge, and we were daily reminded about the fact that people have left their full time jobs and have invested all their savings and worked hard for this. We knew that if we fail, it will all fail. But thanks to an amazing team which we had, especially motivating people like Sarvesh and Jithin, we managed to do a good job. Their passion about the task and belief in us kept us going.
In the end when all is done, I have surely gained alot. I came to know a lot of people who are extremely talented and street smart, made many good friends and had awesome fun working together. I learned how to manage a group, get tasks done by people, become organised and balance work and fun. But above all, I came out as a very confident person who now believes that anything can be done if you are determined and put all the energy you have. No task is insurmountable.
I sincerely want to thank Internshala and every person involved, for letting me be a part of it and teaching me so much. In the end, I wish Internshala all the best and hope to see it as one of the fastest growing startups ever. Go Internshala \m/
