About CPPR-Centre for Strategic Studies: – Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR) is a research based think tank dedicated to extensive and in-depth research on current economic, social, and political issues.
About the internship: – CPPR-Centre for Strategic Studies seeks interns to work for the International Conference on National Security (ICNS) being organised on 6th and 7th of December 2013. Research papers are invited in following themes from the academia and practitioners:
- National Security – Institutional arrangements and issues involved
- How do the interests of Federal States influence Foreign Policy and in turn the National Security?Or State action influencing Foreign policies on National Security
- How are the resources for Security Monitoring and Surveillance shared between the Center and States and among the States?
- Internal Security as a focused area of the States – Thinking beyond the existing structures
- How does the Development agenda meet with the Security objectives?
- Need to balance National/State interest in Trade and Commerce with National Security
- Capacity Building at State level to counter threats due to Terrorism and other National Security threats
- Best Management Practices in National Security- Lessons from USA
- Analysis of Coastal and Maritime security in response to recent incidents such as Enrica Lexie, 26/11 Mumbai attacks, Piracy etc.
- Role of Coastal Police Stations, Coast Guard, Navy and Ports – Assessment of Coastal Security Scheme
- Assessment of Surveillance systems, Support systems and Response Time including role of Fisherman and awareness building. Role of Coastal Awareness Committee and Training.
- The Human Security aspects like Natural Disasters, Humanitarian Relief and Military interventions to protect civilians.
- Diaspora issues like migration, human trafficking, organised crime & radicalization

Additional details: – This is an unpaid internship. We encourage online mode internships if in case the interns are not located in Kochi. A minimum of 3 months commitment is expected.
