Internshala Career Scholarship for Girls 2018 – Results
We feel delighted to announce the winner of Internshala Career Scholarship for Girls 2018. Congratulations Kakumanu Sagar Sailaja!
Selected amongst 12,654 applications, Kakumanu Sagar Sailaja is a second-year student pursuing B.Tech from Narasaraopeta Engineering College, Narasaraopeta, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. After her father abandoned her family when she was merely 4 years old, Sailaja did not have any financial support. Her conviction and determination have helped her overcome substantial odds in her life (financial and social). Â
Fighting against the various roadblocks, she scored 80.9% in her diploma. Sailaja had to drop her studies after pursuing a diploma in electrical and electronics engineering due to the deteriorating health condition of her mother. She worked as a child laborer for 3 years at a farm, determined to study further. With the little money she made, she funded her brother’s studies and saved some amount for her bachelor’s degree. Â
She managed to continue her education with her savings and with the help of her college administration. So much is her resolve that despite a gap of 3 years in her studies, she topped her department in B.Tech first year. Sailaja plans to use this scholarship amount to pay her college fee for the upcoming semester. She aspires to become financially independent and find a good job once she completes her degree in order to provide a better future to her mother.Â
Internshala feels honored to have chosen her as the winner of Internshala Career Scholarship for Girls 2018. Keep it up Sailaja – we sincerely hope that this scholarship amount paves the way for a successful career and inspires many more girls and women throughout the country to pursue their own dreams even more relentlessly.
