We feel delighted to announce the winner of Internshala Career Scholarship for Girls 2021. Congratulations, Sneha Shankar!
Selected amongst 14,352 applications, Sneha Shankar is a third-year B.Com student at Apoorva Institute of Management Studies, Bangalore, Karnataka. She lost her father at the age of 12 which left Sneha and her mother with no financial support. Her hard work and perseverance have helped her in powering through various odds.
Despite the financial instability, Sneha managed to score 89.9% in her 10th board exams and 8.16 GPA in her 2nd year of college. Due to her academic excellence and persistence, she has received financial support from both school and college administration. In order to supplement her finances further, she started tutoring students. This income helped her in pursuing her long-held dream of pursuing a career in chartered accounting. Although she could not afford coaching classes, she remained undeterred and made use of the resources available to her, such as ICAI material, books from friends, and free online tutorials. Her hard work paid off when she cleared the CA foundation exam in May 2019.
The pandemic presented new challenges for the family wherein they had to use most of the savings for basic sustenance. During her 2nd year of college, Sneha was granted a fee waiver due to her consistent academic performance. However, the same will not be possible this year, and she is struggling to continue her education.
Sneha plans to use this scholarship amount to pay her college fees. She aspires to be financially independent by becoming a chartered accountant and hopes to help her mother financially.
Internshala feels truly honored to have chosen her as the winner of Internshala Career Scholarship for Girls 2021. Keep it up Sneha – we sincerely hope that this scholarship amount paves the way for a successful career and inspires many more girls and women throughout the country to pursue their own dreams even more relentlessly.
Internshala Career Scholarship for Girls was instituted on 29th December 2012 due to the sad coincidence of the Delhi rape victim’s passing away on the same day as that of Internshala’s second anniversary. We have aimed to advance one girl’s career every year through an award of Rs. 25,000.
The selection criteria for the scholarship award are four-fold:

– An element of achievement
– An element of purpose
– An element of need
