Summer Internship with NHRC – Human Rights – Delhi, India

An internship with none other than National Human Rights Commission of India – there can NOT be a better opportunity than this to develop a grass root level understanding of the human rights situation and challenges in India. About NHRC: – National Human Rights Commission of India (NHRC) needs no introduction. It is the supreme body and guardian for protection and promotion of human rights in India.
About Internship: – The objective of the internship is to spread awareness among University students about the need for protection and promotion of Human Rights. The month long internship would cover about 82 sessions on various aspects of Human Rights. This would include classroom sessions, interaction with chairperson of NHRC, project work, field visits (Jails, NGOs, Nariniketans, juvenile homes, old age homes, Beggar’s courts etc.), book reviews, film screening and cultural programs etc.
Who can apply: –
- Students of the 4th and 5th year pursuing 5 Years Integrated Law Course
- Students of the 3rd year pursuing 3 years LL.B. Course
- Students of LL.M. Course
- Students pursuing Post Graduate Diploma in Human Rights, MA in Human Rights, Post Graduate students of Political Science, Sociology, Social Work (MSW), Criminology, Public Administration, Rural Development, History, Economics, Commerce, Anthropology, International Relations and any of the discipline of Social Sciences would be considered with preference to students pursuing their final year. Only regular students of UGC Recognized universities will be eligible
Location: – New Delhi, India
Duration: – 1 month (14th May – 12th June 2012)
Stipend: – Rs. 8,000 / month for outside Delhi students and Rs. 4,000 / month for students from Delhi. To-and-fro 2nd class train fare would be provided to the students from outside Delhi. Certificates will be issued to the interns at the end of their internships on submission of their report/paper. In addition a reward of Rs. 10,000/- would be given to the best intern
